The Frozen Chosen-Part 2

A day on the set of The Chosen

A multi-season television series based on the life of Jesus and his followers.

In spite of the extreme weather, would I do it again? YES, IN A HEARTBEAT!!!

The day the water stood still!

Jesus’ life was never easy and every day He calls us out of our comfort zones to become more like Him. He woos us, as we follow Him, to choose daring adventure rather than safe complacency. And on The Chosen set, this day was packed full of opportunities to be His hands and feet.

We witnessed people caring for strangers, encouraging the discouraged, sharing their belongings with those who came unprepared for the cold, offering a kind word, sacrificing their desires for the good of others and so much more.

Worship was a tiny foretaste of what heaven will be like when people of all nations gather around the throne and worship the One we love so much. “The Blessing” still resonates in my head and heart. Thank you Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes and Phil Wickham for drawing us together with such a beautiful song.

It was especially rewarding to see how Dallas Jenkins interacted with the crowd and the cast. He was friendly, approachable, genuine, generous…Everything we witnessed about his character during his YouTube videos was confirmed in person. I especially loved how he stood at the exit after a very long day and personally thanked each person for being there.

And Jonathan Roumie, the actor who superbly portrays Jesus, not only delivered a stellar performance in very challenging conditions but took time to interact with his fans, fist-bumping and greeting everyone along his path.

God’s perfect timing was amazing! We had the awesome privilege of knowing God held off the rain until the words “It’s a wrap” were shouted, and everyone headed to the buses. At that very moment the drops began to fall and an ice storm arrived later that night.

What a blessing to be involved in a show that is magnifying Jesus to the world. Maybe one might wonder how I, a tiny speck in a sea of 2000 plus people, made a difference. The Sermon on the Mount scene would not be nearly as impactful without all the microscopic faces that made up the crowd. And even if the camera didn’t zoom in for a close-up, and friends and family searched and couldn’t find me in the finished episode, God knew exactly where I was! If my small contribution of simply being there was pleasing to Him, that’s all that mattered.
